3 exercises you should be doing before you get out of bed each morning.

By Jett Trembath

As the colder months start to role in. It is important we get the body primed and ready for the day. Just like you wouldn’t go for a run without stretching. Mobility and stretching especially through your back may help prevent any nasty injuries or niggles you may acquire.

Have you ever felt tight and not thought much about it? You then bend down to pick something up and then BAM! You twist awkwardly and your back starts to hurt. Nearly dropping you to the ground causing debilitating discomfort and pain with every movement.

Obviously, if you are experiencing back pain. Some of these stretches may be uncomfortable. That is why it is always important to see a healthcare professional to get an individually tailored exercise program for your specific needs or injury.

Stretching and mobility work is safe and advised to be performed for people of all ages. Modifying and progressing all exercises ensures people are achieving the most benefits as possible and effectively progressing. I like to advise all my patients to continue with the stretches and exercises we used to get you out of pain.

Each stretching exercise should be held for 30-60 seconds and performed through a comfortable range.

Some of the benefits of stretching include:

  • Improved Circulation
  • Improved Posture
  • Reduced Muscle Stiffness and Soreness
  • Increased Flexibility
  • Improved Balance

My three go to exercises are:

  1. Single Leg Knee To Chest

2. Knee Rocking Side To Side

  1. Cobra Pose Into A Child’s Pose
